Church Education Building

This project sits between two historic Greene & Greene buildings—the
internationally recognized Gamble House and the Cole House. Our challenge
was to develop a design style that did not threaten or imitate the
historic structures, but simply referenced key elements. The result
is a progressive Arts & Crafts style that satisfied concerns
of the preservation community and residents in adjoining neighborhoods.
The project is 11,000 SF and includes 7 classrooms, a teacher prep
room, multipurpose spaces, a kitchen, restrooms, a choir/board room
and chapel. This project won an AIA Design Award in 2002.
