The house takes forms from the arts & crafts movement and from the mid century post & beam and slab wall structures to create a new Pasadena aesthetic we call "Pasadena progressive". The house plan navigates around 6 major trees on a sloped lot and utilizes the entire site.

Evergreen Villas Green House Skilled Nursing Prototype Facility - AIA CITATION AWARD
This 7,000 SF skilled nursing facility is a prototype for the State of California and will help to de-institutionalize skilled nursing facilities in the State. Rather than the typical institutional facility, the "Green House©" concept is based on a family-like residence for 10 people.

Shining Mountain Ranch Guest Lodge - AIA HONOR ARCHITECTURAL CRAFT AWARD
                                                                      - AIA PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD

This project is located in French Valley, Montana. Elk, moose, deer and black bears roam freely on this 4,500-acre ranch, covered by dense pine groves and grass zones with streams and a lake. Without removing trees, the building was sited in a natural swale in a pine tree grove. The structure is highly crafted with influences from the National Parks rustic style and the Arts & Crafts movement. Key significance for this projects was its innovative design technologies, engineering detailing and a log flying buttress lateral system created for this project allowed for large glass openings between cantilevered log columns, eliminating the need for standard shear walls and steel reinforcement.
