This house is sited on Johnson Lake, a natural spring lake in the Arroyo Seco Canyon in the middle of Pasadena. While digging footings, a spring turned the site into a mud bog sequencing the design of a concrete matt footing that floats over the mud. Natural materials, large windows and indoor-outdoor ambiance make this Pasadena Progressive style house very light and airy. The house fully embraces the site and wraps around mature oak and sycamore trees.
“You know the time and value of a great architect when you love your home now as much as you did the day you moved in. Doug and his firm are the best.”
